RESEARCH PUBLICATION & PRESENTATION

High-quality music education is built on a foundation of great research. ILMEA is proud to support and showcase the scholarship that helps our field grow — from action research to graduate studies exploring new methods in music pedagogy. Research keeps our profession grounded in best-practices, helps teachers refine what works in real rehearsals and classrooms, and gives Illinois music educators a stronger voice in the ongoing growth and development of music education.

ILMEA features research in our journal to celebrate the work happening in our field. We welcome submissions on music teaching and learning — including action research, graduate projects, and pedagogical research.

We welcome qualitative, quantitative, mixed, philosophical, and historical methodologies, with a special interest in action research conducted by music educators in their own classrooms and teaching spaces.
